Rubber vacuum compression molding machines

Rubber vacuum compression molding is the preferred process for molding rubber, silicone, and composite materials where air entrapment or porosity in the finished part is not acceptable. By enclosing the mold within a vacuum chamber and evacuating air before and during the compression and cure cycle, vacuum compression eliminates the voids, blisters, and porosity that are common defects in conventional compression molding - particularly with silicone and specialty compound formulations.

Available configurations

Vacuum compression machines are available in different tonnage capacities, single and double station configurations, and with bottom up or more mold ejector (RT) devices. Multi-station configurations allow one station to be unloading and loading while another is in the cure cycle — maximizing press utilization and output.

Frame type selection guide

  • H-Type (4-pillar / column type) - the most common configuration; high rigidity, suitable for large platen sizes and high-tonnage applications; allows top-down mold loading
  • C-Type (C-frame) - three-sided open frame providing unrestricted front access; ideal for insert molding, rubber-to-metal bonding, and applications requiring robot or manual part insertion from the front
  • Pillar Type - compact footprint with column guides; good rigidity for medium tonnage applications; popular for gasket and seal production

Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and solid silicone machines

Ulai also supplies machines configured for liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding and solid silicone compression molding — specialized processes for medical, food-contact, and high-precision consumer applications. LSR machines require specialized cold-runner systems and precise temperature control to prevent premature cure.

LSR injection requires specialized equipment: a two-component metering system (A+B components with precise ratio control), a cold-feed system to keep the compound below cure temperature until it enters the heated mold, self-sealing shut-off nozzles, and precise platen temperature control with uniform heat distribution. Ulai supplies complete LSR injection systems including the machine, metering unit, mold temperature controller, and cold-feed extruder — supporting full LSR molding line commissioning.
